Letter of the day – The Conservative Woman

Dear Editor,

This government, which is still unsure about the number of genders, is apparently shortly going to announce a £50million funding of trials to blot out the sun. The outfit due to receive this funding is the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA), a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation + Technology – according to its website.

One wonders if the Minister for Economic Suicide, Ed Miliband, has been consulted. He has alternated his time in office with signing off massive solar farms (all which are due to receive gigantic subsidies) with accumulating air miles as he attends faraway conferences. Now his inspirational plans to achieve Nut Zero by next week might just be somewhat harder to achieve, as the absence of sunlight might impact the output of his beloved solar farms.

Tony Blair used to prattle on about “joined up government” – it is clear that joined up writing is likely to be the intellectual limit of this government.
