An illegal alien was arrested earlier this month in Knox County for statutory rape.
30-year-old Apolinor Cancino was arrested on April 11 and charged with statutory rape by an authority figure.
He was originally booked on felony charges with a $125,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 15.
Cancino has since been placed on an immigrant detainer hold. He will remain in custody in the Knox County Jail until he is turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
An immigrant detainer hold means Cancino was likely in the country illegally.
