The climate scaremongers: More lies from the crackpot Climate Change Committee

THE Climate Change Committee have warned the Government that the country is heading for disaster unless it quickly ramps up efforts to tackle what it calls ‘climate risks’.

In their latest Progress Report on Adaptation, they claim: ‘The increasing impacts of climate change are clear, both globally and in the UK. Adaptation is needed now to ensure that the UK is prepared for today’s extreme weather as well as the rapidly increasing severity of future risks. The costs of these impacts are already being felt, and the risks will continue to grow even if international targets to limit global warming are met. Action is needed now whilst we still have the opportunity to address these risks in a way that is both cost-effective and timely.’

They say that by 2050:

•       Over half of England’s prime farmland, one in four homes and half of roads and rail lines will be at risk of flooding;

•    Heat-related deaths could pass 10,000 in an average year;

•    Unchecked climate change could cost 7 per cent of GDP.

Absurd claims such as these, which have no basis in reality, show that the CCC are a body that we should not take seriously. Their statement about floods ignores the reality that only a few thousand properties a year are affected by flooding, and there has been no upward trend in the numbers, according to official data from the Environment Agency:

And far from thousands dying from the heat, summer is still the season when death rates are at their lowest. As for 7 per cent of GDP, that equates to about £140billion a year, which is clearly ludicrous.

In reality, the UK climate has not changed a jot in the last 25 years, so is hardly likely to do so in the next 25 years. We have had a few hot summers in recent years, but none as hot as 1976 or 1995. And the wettest years were 1872, 1903 and 2000.

We are accustomed to silly scare stories like this, promises of Mediterranean summers, an end of snow and so on. In February 2012 the then Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman told us that drought may now be the new norm – just before the wettest summer on record. Four months later, ‘scientists’ said that the dull, damp weather that summer was, you guessed it, all the result of climate change!

This latest CCC report is just another attempt to bulldoze through their climate agenda, one that is already doing great harm to the country, a fact which the British public are beginning to wake up to.

FOOTNOTE: Baroness Brown, chair of the Adaptation Committee which put out this report, is still non-executive director of Ceres Power (developers of green hydrogen) and Orsted (Danish wind power company), both companies which stand to make a lot of money out of the climate scare.

Pure coincidence, of course!

But in a further twist yesterday Ørsted yesterday announced it would be discontinuing its Hornsea 4 project in the UK in its current form. Since the Contract for Difference (CfD) award in allocation round 6 (AR6) in September 2024, the 2,400 MW Hornsea 4 project has seen several adverse developments relating to continued increase of supply chain costs, higher interest rates, and an increase in the risk to construct and operate Hornsea 4 on the planned timeline for a project of this scale.

Will the real Esther McVey please stand up?

LAST Friday Conservative MP Esther McVey appeared on Mike Graham’s TalkTV show to discuss Tony Blair’s road to Damascus moment on Net Zero.

McVey dismissed Net Zero as ‘a dud’, and stated that she had ‘always been sceptical and questioned Net Zero’. You can see the interview here at 2 hours 6 mins in.

Could this be the same Esther McVey who is still listed as a member of the Conservative Environment Network (CEN), an organisation that promotes the Net Zero agenda and has called for the acceleration of the transition away from fossil fuels. Surely not!

We are of course used to hypocrisy from our politicians. But this little episode has exposed a much greater problem.

CEN was set up twelve years ago as an independent forum for conservatives and now has a network of more than 50 Tory MPs, 30 Tory peers and 500 Tory councillors. The whole purpose of course is to influence government policy.

Parliamentary groupings have long operated with the same intention in mind. But the CEN seems to be a much bigger, well-funded and altogether more sinister organisation than we are used to seeing. Its latest accounts, for instance, show they have £391,000 in the bank, and they are well staffed, with six board members and twelve senior staff listed on their website.

As with most climate lobby groups, the CEN is extremely well funded by the Green Blob. Three-quarters of their income comes from familiar far-left foundations, such as the European Climate Foundation, Pooled Fund on International Energy, Clean Air Fund and WWF.

At the heart of this spider’s web is billionaire Sir Christopher Hohn, who owns the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). Hohn, it is reckoned, has ploughed more than £670million into climate campaigns in the last decade, including £17million to the aforesaid Clean Air Fund.

The CIFF are also major funders of the European Climate Foundation (ECF), together with left-wing US foundations including Rockefeller, Bloomberg and Hewlett. ECF also receive money from the Grantham Foundation, another outfit at the heart of the climate scam in this country.

Why is the Tory party allowing its MPs and peers to be members of a subversive network bought and paid for by billionaires and set up to bypass normal democratic protocols. Who matters most to the Esther McVeys of the world – voters or wealthy donors?

If she wants to be taken seriously, Kemi Badenoch needs to get a grip and ban her MPs from being members of the CEN.
