What you are about to watch is an interview with a man you may never have heard of – Rafe Heyday-Mankoo conducted by Andrew Gold. First you need to know who they both are. The former describes himself as a historian and royal commentator which is really to do himself an injustice given then he’s an acerbic and no holds barred commentator on the British political scene. Andrew Gold, whose interview with Liz Truss we featured some weeks ago, is similarly self deprecatory. On X he describes himself as ‘a fallen BBC presenter’ and published and presenter of the podcast Heretics. In an age of group think and tribes he says we need heretics. Apart from the fact that there has not been an age which is not tribal – it is the human condition to be in my opinion – I am in agreement. We, TCW (the Conservative Woman), have been in the heretics advance guard since 2014.
Be all that as it may, what’s interesting about this interview is the volley of frightening facts he shoots out – MPs fear of Islamists they have invited in (the great colonising religion) to and diversity is our weakness to name two and the politics of Nigel Farage as his fast advancing, but not radical, Reform UK party gets nearer to power. It’s also one of the most interesting, clear cut summaries as to why England and the UK, focusing on Blair and the Tories’ fourteen years, have ended up to where we are today. The fog in the boiling water, he says. Rafe is guinea a minute on the solutions he advocates for problems that politicians have created. This interview is not to be missed.
