Additional details have emerged on the illegal alien arrested on 18 charges last week in Davidson County.
Police arrested 26-year-old Luis D. Hernandez on Thursday, June 16, after a brief chase. Hernandez was initially observed near Bell Road and I-24, going 20 miles above the speed limit in a Dodge Charger. He fled when police attempted to pull him over.
A police helicopter trailed Hernandez as he travelled along I-24 at speeds more than 110 miles per hour with no lights on. He then drove into a Hermitage neighborhood before eventually stopping in an apartment complex on Hickory Highlands Drive. He then threw a backpack out and fled on foot before finally being caught.
Police secured the discarded backpack, as well as another backpack found in Hernandez’s vehicle. Both bags contained drug paraphernalia and narcotics. In total, police confiscated 337.2 grams of meth, 662.8 grams of marijuana, THC products, three digital scales, and plastic baggies. They also found a Glock .380 handgun that had previously been reported stolen.
Hernandez had previously been arrested in February 2024 for felony marijuana possession, evading arrest, and driving without a license. He was out on a $27,000 bond and had five outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court on those charges.
He now faces 18 charges: no driver’s license, felony and misdemeanor weapons charges, felony and misdemeanor evading arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, 3 counts of felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell, felony possession of cocaine with intent to sell, felony possession of meth with intent to sell, theft of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle), and 5 counts of failure to appear. He is jailed on a $202,000 bond.
Hernandez has an ICE detainer and will remain in custody until he is released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. An immigrant detainer means he is most likely in this country illegally.
