Dear Editor
The Prime Minister has said that the electricity costs for thousands of UK manufacturing businesses could be cut by 25 per cent by scrapping green levies to help them compete with foreign rivals. This new British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme will exempt more than 7,000 manufacturing firms from green levies on their bills including the renewables obligation, feed-in tariffs and the capacity market. How will this 25 per cent reduction be financed? There are strong indications that this devious government intends to claw it back from industrial gas users. Will the next stage be households with gas cookers and gas boilers? What Ed Miliband and the UK government do not want you to know is that consumers paid just under twice as much for electricity as they did for either gas or other fuels last year. UK industrial electricity bills are nearly 50 per cent higher than those seen in France and Germany and roughly four times higher than in the US. The UK can no longer afford Ed Miliband’s Net Zero madness which is destroying the UK economy while other countries ignore Net Zero and prosper.
