Letter of the day – The Conservative Woman

Dear Editor

Emma Pinchbeck, who was appointed chief executive of the Climate Change Committee on November 11, 2024, wants the cost of electricity to be cut for households, businesses and industry. That would be nice but she wants the subsidies that the wind and solar companies are given be transferred from electricity bills to gas bills. How much is she paid to spout this drivel? She is suggesting this crazy sleight of hand because electricity is four times more expensive than gas so people will stick with gas. Seventy-three per cent of households in the UK use gas but Emma Pinchbeck, who has no financial worries, wants to inflate the price of gas to try to force people to change to electricity. She also indicated that she was happy for the UK Government to remove planning barriers for renewables including onshore wind against the objections of those communities most affected. Democracy is being stamped into the ground by the Climate Change Committee and their green apostles wearing green jackboots. Net Zero diktats are sacrificing jobs and destroying the UK economy whilst other nations extract or use fossil fuels.
