I have been banging on all week – on the website, on X and in my last review of the TCW week on the deafening silence of former Brexiteers about Starmer’s imminent sell out of our country to the EU. Where are they all? Bar a couple of articles this last weekend in The Telegraph by Lord Frost and Suella Braverman there’s been little vented in the MSM by the way of outrage. And even these two articles fell short of going into any detail on the most egregious aspect of all – Labour’s big defence sellout that takes place once their new EU-UK Defence and Security Pact is signed today.
Yesterday the former Brexit Party MEP and former deputy leader of Reform UK, Ben Habib did – got straight to the defence crux of the matter and issued his warning about Starmer’s secret sellout.
He focused his weekly news programme in its entirety on the real purpose of Keir Starmer’s EU summit which Starmer has spun as a positive reset our relationship with the EU.
Far from resetting our relationship with Brussels in a good way, like claiming back the fishing rights given away in Johnson’s exit deal, the reverse is the case. This summit Habib says marks the final betrayal of Brexit. Starmer, he warns, is preparing to hand over control of our borders, our military, our fishing waters, and even our legal system to the EU. Making concessions for benefits that are not benefits to us but to them.
He explains how we never truly left the European Union—and how the betrayal is about to be completed. From youth mobility schemes to joining the European Defence Union, this is the quiet re-entry into Brussels’ grip. He is the first serious commentator (apart from me I think!) to ‘get it’: that at the heart of it is what Starmer calls the need for greater military cooperation – on the excuse that the increased geo-political threats the world faces, means we need to be closer to the EU. Habib explains that in order to gain that cooperation he is going to have to take down our borders for youth mobility (freedom of movement up to 35 which the EU will use more than we do) and make even more concessions on fishing the we did before.
But the idea any concessions should be make for the EU to have the benefit of our support is a complete nonsense. Although our military has been hollowed out in recent years we are still the strongest military force in Europe, he says, mirroring all the concerns of Lt Gen Jonathon Riley and Veterans of Britain (VfB) detailed in their evidence that I reported last week. It means signing up completely to EU foreign policy and putting our military under the command of Brussels.
As VfB revealed there is even more to it than that – the Pact involves putting our defence industry under EU control too. The word Habib uses is correct – it will embed our defence in the EU and it is they should be giving us concessions for that! Not, of course, as he says that we should be doing it all.
Habib is very clear, exposes how Starmer has been spinning his reset and states the alarming reality in simple straight forward language.
It’s must-watch for anyone who still believes in national sovereignty. And for me a vindication of what the far more VfB evidence I reported last week means – a sweeping away of our sovereignty.
