The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

The GOP State Executive Committee (SEC) is set to meet on Saturday, April 12, but there is no indication whether the committee will be addressing the General Assembly’s bill stripping the GOP of caucus and convention rights to select primary candidates which is being opposed by numerous local GOP Chairs across the state (HB0855).

Party Chairman Scott Golden has been called a “Missing Person” by The Tennessee Conservative’s Founder Brandon Lewis as Golden has thus far not uttered a “peep” about the bill.

When things like this get going, you can’t WAIT until they are half-way through the process before you take action. It’s a time-sensitive issue. For the past 5 years, we’ve watched Scott Golden meekly except and even cheerlead every bad RINO-led initiative. From unconstitutional Covid restrictions to awful illegal immigration votes unending. Corporate welfare, restricting freedom of speech, hamstringing grassroots… you name it. Scott’s always there to cheer them on. Never a critique… even when the party platform and GOP Primary voters’ wishes are entirely ignored. Despite repeated calls from the SEC to close the primaries, nothing has happened. In fact, the bill to close the primaries didn’t get a single vote in the Senate! Talk about open disrespect and contempt for the will of the GOP constituent,” wrote Lewis.

One SEC member, Chris Morris (District 28), has taken action to advocate for Republican voters in Tennessee by testifying before legislative committees and writing to lawmakers in opposition to the bill, stating in part, This amendment, in its attempt to regulate the structure of political party primaries and the selection of candidates, poses a clear violation of the constitutional rights afforded to political parties under the First and Fourteenth Amendments. It is essential that we uphold the rights of political parties to determine their own membership and candidate selection processes without unconstitutional interference from the state. In doing so, we preserve the integrity of our democratic system and the fundamental principles of political freedom.”

Those concerned with protecting Republican votes in selecting Republican candidates are urged to contact their SEC members to ask how they are keeping Scott Golden answerable and if they are supporting the constitutional rights of GOPs to govern themselves with autonomy. You can find their information here: State Executive Committee Members

Conservatives are also highly encouraged to attend the meeting and hold your SEC members personally accountable on Saturday, April 12th at 10AM at the Hilton in Mt. Juliet.

As Lewis suggested, “The newly elected county chairmen will meet there at 1PM following lunch. Wouldn’t it be a shame if 1,000 conservative Republican citizens showed up and crashed the party?”
