A Kentucky man wanted for kidnapping, terroristic threats, and more was arrested in Knox County after leading officers on a brief high-speed chase.

29-year-old Reza Vernamkhasti Jalali was wanted on a number of charges related to a domestic incident in Lexington, Kentucky, including second-degree assault, third-degree terroristic threatening, kidnapping, and first-degree wanton endangerment. That incident occurred Thursday morning.
Kentucky investigators were able to track Jalali’s vehicle to Knox County. KCSO spotted the black Jeep on Northshore Drive.
Jalali refused to stop when officers attempted a traffic stop. Instead, a KCSO spokesperson says he raced recklessly through Knoxville streets for approximately 13 minutes.
Jalali then attempted to flee the vehicle on foot before officers ultimately caught him.

While searching his vehicle, officers found a samurai sword, ammunition for a handgun, and three MDMA (ecstasy) tablets.
“This individual presented a real and immediate danger to the community,” said a representative from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. “Our officers took quick and decisive action to prevent what could have been a much more tragic outcome.”
Jalali is currently housed in the Knox County Jail where he is currently charged with felony reckless endangerment and evading arrest, as well as being a fugitive from justice for the pending charges in Kentucky.
