A grand jury has indicted a Knox County teacher and coach on charges of statutory rape.

32-year old Chad Brooks, a former social studies teacher and coach at West High School, was arrested on May 10 by the Morristown Police Department and charged with a total of 16 counts of aggravated statutory rape and statutory rape by an authority figure.

According to Knox County Schools officials, Brooks was placed on paid administrative leave in April after law enforcement launched an investigation into allegations that he had been involved in inappropriate relationships with both past and current students.

However, he is still listed on the school’s website at the time of this article’s publication:

The incidents allegedly took place between January 2024 and March 2025.

Brooks was booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility. Court records show that he was later released with GPS monitoring.

Following Brooks’ arrest, Knox County Schools released a statement saying that his contract would not be renewed for the upcoming school year.
