Dear Editor
If the residents of Plymouth can vote to decide whether they want an elected Mayor, why can’t the residents of Cheshire decide if they want an elected Mayor? Instead, Cheshire residents are having an elected Mayor forced upon them, like it or not.
The Plymouth referendum is scheduled for July 17, and if the vote is in favour, the first Mayoral elections would be held in May 2026. No such choice for Cheshire. Why not?
