Nashville Mayor Ordered Firefighters To Report Interactions With ICE

The Tennessee Conservative [By Olivia Lupia] –

As Congressman Andy Ogles continues to lead the federal investigation in Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell for obstructions of immigration enforcement efforts, it has been revealed that an executive order issued by the mayor ordered even firefighters to report any interactions with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

O’Connell’s Executive Order (EO) 30 requires that “all Covered Employees shall report certain Immigration Communications to the Designated Person at his or her Department/Office.”

These “Immigration Communications” are considered to include those “between federal immigration authorities (or their parent agency, if regarding immigration) and a Metro emergency services department (Police, Fire, Emergency Management, or Emergency Communications).”

The order further instructs that any such communications must be submitted to the Mayor’s Office of New Americans and the mayor himself within one business day.

It also declares the Metropolitan Department of Human Resources, in conjunction with the law department and Office of New Americans, create a “program that includes information on the reporting of Immigration Communications pursuant to this Executive Order and shall assist each Metro Department/Office in providing the program to its Covered Employees.”

Representative Ogles has called this EO a betrayal, writing on X, “My office just obtained disturbing evidence that WOKETIVIST MAYOR Freddie O’Connell may be forcing the Nashville Fire Department to SNITCH on ICE anytime they work together. Read that again: Nashville Firefighters…ordered to report ICE operations?!?! This is a complete betrayal of our firefighters.”

One commenter on the post concurred with the Congressman’s statement, writing, I would bet that if any firefighter did not follow this ‘order’ they would be prosecuted to the fullest – all while Freddie coddles actual criminals in Nashville that are here illegally. Freddie is a total POS!”

Others questioned a seeming lack of involvement or advocacy by Tennessee’s U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty. Blackburn sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney General’s office requesting an investigation and been seemingly supportive of the immigration enforcement efforts and investigations into O’Connell.

Hagerty has remained relatively silent, with no social media posts or media statements about the ICE operations in Nashville or the subsequent actions of the mayor save one post in early May after the initial traffic stops by ICE and Tennessee Highway Patrol.

“The message is clear: if you are an illegal immigrant in Tennessee, you will be deported. No more preying on children. No more trafficking human beings and drugs for profit. No more fentanyl killing our sons and daughters. You will be caught, and you will be sent home. Great work, @POTUS,” the lone post read.

Mayor O’Connell has stated he is not worried about the investigation and does not believe any actual charges will be forthcoming, though Ogles is determined to hold him responsible.

Four years ago, the Invalid-in-Chief let millions of cartel terrorists flood into our country. Now, Freddie O’Connell wants to keep them here. If he’s helping illegal aliens — who are all criminals under the law — O’Connell is committing treason. He can either help ICE, cut every penny of funding to illegal aliens, and help us deport them all — or be held accountable,” Ogles declared
