‘Operation Sindoor’ Nails Mastermind of Daniel Pearl Kidnapping – HotAir

Wow.

Whatever the ongoing consequences of India unleashing its missiles on Pakistani terror encampments the night before last – things either chill out or escalate – word has broken this morning of a true service to humanity they performed by knowing exactly where to rain down hell for revenge.

The Indians have done the world one good turn.

India’s Operation Sindoor has not just avenged the deaths of the 26 people in the Pahalgam attack, but also had a far-reaching impact on the global fight against terrorism. The Indian Armed Forces’ precision strikes on Wednesday reportedly killed Abdul Rauf Azhar, the operational head of Jaish-e-Mohammad and mastermind of the IC-814 hijacking.

Azhar was involved in the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002. Hence, yesterday’s strikes on nine terror hubs in PoK and Pakistan delivered justice to the American-Jewish journalist.

Today, India delivered justice for the brutal murder of American-Jewish journalist Daniel Pearl by eliminating Abdul Rauf Azhar, the Jaish-e-Mohammed commander and key conspirator behind Pearl’s kidnapping, torture, and beheading.

Abdul Rauf Azhar wasn’t just a terrorist; he was the brother of Masood Azhar, JeM’s founder, and a mastermind behind some of the most heinous Islamic attacks. He conspired to murder Daniel Pearl

To India, we say THANK YOU.  Thank you for standing strong against Islamic terror and taking the fight directly to the jihadis.

Key to the horrific Pearl murder was an infamous act planned and perpetrated by Abdul Rauf Azhar and the Pakistani-based Harkat-ul-Mujahideen in 1999 – the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814 (IC-814), which later became known as ‘The Kandahar Hijack.’

It was ghastly and riveting as it played out.

The aircraft was flown to Amritsar, Lahore, and Dubai. While in Dubai, the hijackers released 27 passengers plus the body of a male hostage who had been stabbed by the hijackers multiple times. Later, on 25 December, the hijackers forced the aircraft to land in Kandahar in Afghanistan. At the time, most of Afghanistan, including the Kandahar airport, was under the control of the Taliban. External intervention was hindered by Taliban men encircling the aircraft, and by the presence of two officers from the Inter-Services Intelligence of Pakistan.

On 27 December after two days of internal discussions, the Indian Government sent a team of negotiators headed by Vivek Katju from the Ministry of Home Affairs, which also included officials Ajit Doval and C.D. Sahay. The motive for the hijacking was to secure the release of various prisoners held under terrorism charges in India. The hijacking is seen as a part of the millennium attack plots in late 1999 and early 2000 by Al-Qaeda linked terrorists. After days of negotiations, India agreed to release three men it had imprisoned for terrorism – Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, Masood Azhar and Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar – in exchange for the hostages.

The hostage crisis ended on 31 December when the passengers and crew were released after the Indian government handed the three prisoners over to the Taliban.

The Indian government was horrified when, instead of arresting the three released prisoners, the Taliban drove them over the border into Pakistan to, basically, drop them back off with their mujahideen buddies.

The ‘Masood Azhar’ India released as one of the three prisoners exchanged for the hostages is Abdul Azhar’s brother and head of the family business. He is also well-connected in the Islamic terrorist community, which explains the Taliban delivering him safely home.

…Azhar planned to start a new outfit named Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). He reportedly received assistance from Pakistan’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden and multiple Sunni sectarian organisations based in Pakistan.[9] JeM is run by Azhar’s family like a family enterprise.[9] Jamia Binoria madarsa linked JeM with the Afghan Taliban.[9]

After strategic name changes, the terror group promptly went back to work, attacking the Indian Parliament in 2001, abducting and cold-bloodedly murdering Daniel Pearl in 2002, attacking the Indian Air Force Base at Pathankot in 2016, and the 2019 suicide bombing of a convoy on the highway in Pulwama, in Kashmir.

Besides his brother, another of Abdul Azhar’s trio of infamous released Indian prisoners  – Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh – is the vermin who physically carried out Azhar’s planned kidnapping and horrific murder of the unsuspecting American journalist.

…Azhar’s role in orchestrating the 1999 Kandahar hijack facilitated the release of Omar Saeed Sheikh, a key Al-Qaeda operative, who kidnapped and murdered Pearl. The journalist was beheaded in 2002, an execution that shocked the world.

From news reports, it appears that the extended Azhar family had gathered at Masood Azhar’s home for funeral services as Indian missiles struck the terrorist compound. The head of the clan wasn’t there, but brother Abdul was reportedly leading the prayers.

The count so far is that at least ten to fourteen family members of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) leader’s terror clan are dead in the strike.

The Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) is a man named Ajit Doval, for whom taking out a terrorist of this stature would at any time be the best of news. But for Mr Doval, it must be especially satisfying after the years of mockery he endured, having been one of the negotiators for the hostage release during the 1999 hijacking.

He and his team saved 190 lives then and were pilloried for years.

This has to be extra schweet right now, and Indians are appreciative.

What this brings in retaliation is another question entirely, but the Indians are equipped to deal with the fallout, come what may.

Pakistan is a snek pit.

Such evil has been served notice that the world knows exactly where they live.

Well done, India.

This is a good news morning.
