An illegal alien was arrested in Nashville for the stabbing death of his estranged wife at a local Madison elementary school.
Candido Raul Rubio-Perez, 54, was arrested by agents of the U.S. Marshal’s Service Task Force on April 17. Rubio-Perez allegedly killed his wife, 52-year-old Niurka Alfonso Acevedo, as she arrived for her job as a custodian at Chadwell Elementary School on April 12.
According to friends and family, the couple was estranged because Rubio-Perez had been abusive towards Acevedo on numerous occasions, including an attack on Christmas Day that left her in the hospital. They say she refused to reconcile with him, but she also had not gone to police to report the circumstances.
Her body was discovered in the school parking lot by another staff member before students arrived for the day.
Rubio-Perez initially fled the scene, leaving police hunting for him. After his arrest, he was booked into the Davidson County jail on felony murder charges with no bond.
Inmate records now show that Rubio-Perez has an immigrant detainer hold. He will remain in custody until he is released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
An ICE hold most likely means that he is in the country illegally.
